Paws with Purpose: Canine Companions Comes to Kismet Coffee
Students from Fire Island Elementary School gathered at Kismet Coffee for a tail-wagging lesson in compassion and service, as Canine Companions brought their remarkable dogs to the Kismt Coffee Shop for the second consecutive year.
"We're raising awareness for Canine Companions — as part of Puppy National Day, we have folks from all over the community coming out to learn about the great work that we do, providing service dogs to veterans as well as people with disabilities," said Rudy Breedy, Executive Director of Canine Companions Northeast Region.
The event was close to home for Kismet Coffee's Jackson Davis. "I've been involved with Canine Companions my entire life," Davis shared. "My brother was matched with his service dog, Feathers, when he was five — so it's an organization that's always been near and dear to my family's heart." For Davis, hosting the event was a natural extension of that lifelong bond. "I just thought it would be a great opportunity for our Kismet Coffee community to meet these amazing dogs."
For the young students on hand, the morning offered more than just the chance to pet a furry friend — it was a window into a world where a dog's loyalty can change a life forever.
