The calendar said spring weeks ago, but the South Shore keeps its own clock. It's the Ospreys wheeling back in from their winter in Central America.

Students from Fire Island Elementary School gathered at Kismet Coffee for a tail-wagging lesson in compassion and service, as Canine Companions brought their remarkable dogs to the Kismet Coffee Shop for the second consecutive year.

Temperatures rose above 50 degrees—nearly balmy compared to the freezing conditions that dropped more than 15 inches of snow over the past two weeks.

The Great South Bay has frozen over and it’s anticipated the ice will remain until mid-March.
